The Boondocks’ theme song adds more to its eminence
Why is a theme attached with a show?
If viewed through a critic’s angle, then every theme represents a sense of a backup for the spaces in between the continuous flow of the show. That means, in order to break the silence and to keep viewers’ interest alive throughout the flow of the show, theme songs are designed. Though, it is just one side of the coin-viewpoint, the other side reveals that theme songs aren’t just the filler materials, but many a times, directors of the show ask for some break intentionally to insert a theme song!
Anyhow, what ever the view point is, the fact is that the theme songs are made and they do play a pivotal role in any of the show that they are a part of. It becomes mandatory in the animated series to have themes since the animation stuffs are being most commonly enjoyed either by the people who have a great appetite for creativity or the small children. And both these types of spectators have a tendency to get their nerves fascinated by the wonderful blend of lyrics with the instrumental divine like music.
I am a die-hard hip hop fan! Most of the hip hoppers, who enjoy a huge fan following, mainly design the lyrics of their songs which is either girl centric or drug centric. But in case of The Boondocks‘ theme-lyrics, Asheru has hit the drastic contrast by literally painting the blues with the awesome spring!
The excellent usage of the metaphors in its lyrics has given a realistic touch to the song.
The song is marvelous as it happens to present a transformation of a builder’s refused stone into a source of inspiration for a lady to sing the blues. The protagonist of the song talks of his transformations from ballot or bullet to finally being a soldier who remains a soldier till the war is won!
Asheru, hats off to you for such a masterpiece!
