Regina king unleashes the Beast Within!
There is a beast lurking within every beauty! I didn’t mean to scare you guys off; Regina King hasn’t literally turned into a beast!
It’s just that she has donned the mantle of her character, Letisha, so well in her recently released movie, The Beastly, that it has left the fans gaping in fascination! She did a marvelous job and won her fans over; in fact made many new ones as well. I am sure most of her shows will get more download hits from now on.
But, all this recognition isn’t anything new for this talented actress. In fact, she had previously won the award for the most Outstanding Actress in a Drama series 2011 in the NAACP Image Awards for her role in Southland.
Everyone knows her for her voice over acts in Boondocks, where she plays both Huey and Riley Freeman. The show aimed sarcasm at how the African-American people face prejudice in the society as mostly drug abusing, rapping, or gang warring people.
The series is a fascinating portrayal of the struggles of the two young brothers while they are growing up in such a prejudiced society.
Both brothers are like chalk and cheese in essence, yet Regina, being the talented voice over that she is, has pulled it off with effortless ease. One can well imagine the sort of perseverance she has exemplified while modulating her pitch, tone and the entire attitude for each character. Bravo Regina!
Well, less talk and more work, they say. So, why not just go right ahead and watch The Boondocks online.
Regina seems to have defied age, monotony, and every kind of stereotype, with her work. More power to her!
