It’s Time for Boondocks to Pop Some Champagne!

Yup guys, that’s exactly what it’s time to do. Boondocks is already celebrating, and after I give you the news, you will celebrate too, with millions of others.

Why? Well, here it is!
Aaron McGruder, the cartoonist behind Boondocks, who has millions of fans today, has been awarded the NAACP (National Association for the Advancement of Colored People) Image Award for ‘Outstanding Writing in a Comedy Series’, for this incomparable show.
McGruder, the man behind Boondocks and all its creativity, has been at the helm affairs from the start and handled it very well. Despite getting hit by controversies one after the other, the man has held his ground strongly.
Boondocks, a show which is known for its audacity to attempt the outrageous, has had favorite targets like Bill Cosby and even Condoleezza Rice! It hasn’t even left Star Wars at peace! But, the show has always been a favorite amongst viewers and that is why, McGruder truly deserves this award.
The NAACP Image Award was presented to him for the writing he did in the episode ‘The Fund-Raiser’.
For those not in the know, ‘The Fund-Raiser’ is the name of season 3 episode 7 of Boondocks, and entails a tricky tale. In this episode, Riley puts together a fundraiser.
Now, you would think that the whole point of a fundraiser would be to give the money to someone in need. But no! The event organized with the help of Jazmine Dubois, Cindy McPhearson and other children from Woodcrest, is not aimed at helping the needy.
So, I leave you at tenterhooks to find out the actual idea behind it.
P.S. it is so intriguing, that every time I watch this episode, it seems like it’s the first time.
Thus, three cheers to McGruder and Boondocks for a well-deserved victory!
